Recent UNESCO's World Heritage Site, Rani Ki Vav(Queens Step Well), INDIA

'

Rani ki vav is situated in the town of Patan in Gujarat, India. Recently it was listed into UNESCO's World Heritage Site in 2014.

It was built by the Queen Udayamati in 11th Century  in the memory of her Husband king Bhimdev I of the Solanki dynasty.

The stepwell was later flooded by the nearby Saraswati River and silted over until the late 1980s. When it was excavated by the Archeological Survey of India, the carvings were found in pristine condition.
